Embroidered Unicorn Shirt

Made: March 2018

Oh my goodness. I just love this shirt.  I expected Elisa to like it just as much, but she seemed...just okay with it. She wore it a handful of times but never got too excited over it. It was nice to make her a shirt instead of the usual dress. I used the Piper pattern from VFT.  I've sewn a Piper shirt (here) and a dress using the pattern years back (I guess I never did post it), but this was an updated pattern. The dress/shirt was mostly the same, but the bow was completely re-done. I didn't copy anyone else's ideas for this dress (not knowingly, at least), it was all my own.  I found a unicorn illustration (unicorns were all the rage at this time) online that I liked and went to work with the embroidery. It was enjoyable work and it didn't take too long. I used some thin jean material, almost like jean-colored broadcloth, maybe? I bought the fabric at goodwill so I'm not 100% what the material exactly is, but broadcloth would be my guess. I love how this shirt turned out, and I love it accessorized with the cute pink hair bow and matching pink jeans! My only issue with this shirt is that the bow in back is too heavy for the fabric, therefore the shirt tends to ride up on her neck.

  1. Very artistic with the unicorn. It ties in the pink and gray so well.
