Gray and Yellow Brother/Sister Matching Outfits

Here is another brother/sister matching outfit set I made months ago (February, I think...?).  I liked the way they turned out.  They don't wear the outfits as much as I hoped they would, but that's what happens when kids have too many clothes!
I used some fabric had had from my free-fabric stash.  It was originally an ugly dirty dish-water gray, but I bought some black dye and it dyed it a charcoal gray.  Unfortunately, with every wash the fabric gets lighter and lighter.  That was my first (and quite possibly, my last) time dying fabric.
I used the Viollete Field Threads "Josephine" top for Elisa's shirt.  It was a pretty involved shirt to make because it calls for pin-tucking and of course the collar, ruffles, and button holes aren't a quick sew either.  But I love this shirt pattern and I will definitely be making more in the future!  The skirt I made up and I'm pleased with how it turned out.  For Gabe's shirt I used a 99 cent pattern that I got at Joannes.  I liked the way his turned out too, but I don't like that the hems flip up because I made the hems too wide.  Oh well--lesson learned.
Here are the pics.  These are the only ones I have of Gabe in his shirt, but you get the idea.  I also made a matching headband for Elisa.  I'm not sure if I like it or not.

Fiona Top Outfit #2

I've posted Fiona top #3 so now its time for #2!

I made this outfit for Elisa's 2-year portraits.  I used some red and black heart print fabric I've had in my stash for awhile which I had bought at Joann's awhile ago.  It is a good quality fabric but I can't remember how much I paid for it, I'm sure I got it heavily discounted or I wouldn't have bought it!  The red fabric is broadcloth, one of my favorite fabrics to work with!  Although it is thin, it is cheap, pretty much wrinkle-free, and comes in a whole array of solid colors. I altered a pants pattern I already had to make the knicker pants.  You can't see it in the pictures, but there is a huge bow in the back of the shirt.  I just love this outfit set on her!  Isn't she darling in her outfit?! It's nice to see my outfits on her in good-quality pictures.

The Silly Tree Dress

This has got to be the silliest dress I have ever made!  I made it on a whim a couple of months ago, in an attempt to use up some tacky leaf-print fabric I have had in my stash for years now (got it for free!).  I didn't want to put in a whole lot of effort into this project when I started, so I made it a pillowcase top with an elastic casing for the waist.  Then I thought it would be cute to put a tree on the skirt--something to serve as a focal point.  It was made from felt and really makes the dress!  I am pleased with the way the tree turned out.  This dress would be perfect for Earth Day (whenever that is).  Elisa really likes it, though she just wears it around the house.  Not the type of dress to wear in public (for Elisa anyway) but I think it's cute, though Elisa's daddy says it looks like a paper bag!

Brother/Sister Matching Dress and Vest

You are going to have to excuse the awful pictures.  It is so hard to get two toddlers to pose for pictures, especially right after church!  And let's not even mention the ugly brown grass...

Anyway, I had to take these pictures when I had the chance or else I would have never gotten any pictures.  I made these outfits almost a year ago--way back in November! The dress and vest were meant to be their Thanksgiving outfits, but they turned out so cute that the kids ended up wearing them all throughout the year!

I know the fabric isn't the cutest, but it was from my free stash, its is uni-sex, and the browns in the fabric were perfect for the fall.  Besides, I think that the style of the dress lends just enough cuteness to the dress that the fabric doesn't matter so much.

To be honest, I don't remember making these outfits too well, it has been almost a year!  I'm pretty sure that I used the Simplicity project runway #2989 for the dress, but I'm not 100% sure.  For the vest I used a $3 Walmart pattern and I don't know why I haven't made Gabe another vest since then, since they aren't too hard to make and they look adorable on him.  Probably because I am CONSTANTLY low on fabric!

Unfortunately, Elisa is starting to grow out of this dress so it may only have a couple of wears left.  The kids are a big hit at church in their cute matching outfits.  I should make them more matching outfits, but there are so many projects I want to work on and only so much time and fabric (or money to buy fabric with!)

Floral Ruffle Shirt & Pants

This was a shirt made from leftover material way back in March.  I thought it was going to be completely adorable, but alas, I ruffled the ruffles too much and it just turned out looking silly.  You can't tell in the picture, but the back poufs out (because of the over-gathering) and it looks ridiculous on her. I made the pants to match, but they don't match very well (the green is too dark) and I didn't have enough fabric to make them look as cute as I wanted them to be.  Although the outfit appears cute in the pictures, in reality it is just bad.  Bad enough to throw in the giveaway pile :(
