Floral Dress

Here is a dress I made back in April.  I intended it to be an Easter dress for my lil' miss, but it ended up going to her cousin, on account of the dress being a bit to big for her.  Eesa has narrow shoulders just like her mama, and the neckline on this particular pattern (it's the Maisie dress from VFT) is fairly wide.  Although the neckline (well, mostly backline) is what I love about this dress!  I added cap sleeves, back ties, and lace trim.  I also love that this pattern allows for a beautiful, exposed zipper  (I ordered them here from Amazon, FYI).  Here are the pictures of the dress.  Sorry for the yellowish hue and the busy background, but you may have noticed that I do not own a fancy camera, photoshop, nor have I ever professed to be a good photographer! Haha.

I love the low-cut back line.  It is so feminine and sweet!

Nightgowns

I had a lot of fun making these pony nightgowns!  I used flannel fabric from Joanns.  Joanns has a HUGE selection of flannel prints, and they are all so adorable! Better yet, they are relatively cheap! I got my flannel for $3/yard, but come Black Friday, the flannel is even cheaper! I just barely squeaked by with one yard of fabric for a size 6; I think a yard and a quarter would be just perfect for that size.  I used the curved bodice from Violette Field Threads's Clara pattern, flutter sleeves, and I cut some curves in the bottom of the skirt.  I had enough fabric left over to make a dolly dress, too! And fyi, at Joanns, a lot of the flannel and fleece prints match!  I picked out the pink pony fabric to match the fleece blanket my daughter already owned.

I think a matching nightgown, blanket, and dolly nightgown would make a perfect Christmas or birthday present! I'm hoping to make more of these nightgowns--cold weather friendly with long sleeves. My daughter loves these nightgowns!  And I love making them, and not spending more than $5!
